Abstract

Low health literacy and resistance to behavior change in rural communities hinder successful disease prevention. Preventive education through community service is recognized as an effective approach to improve health quality. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of preventive education-based community service programs in improving community healthy behavior. The research used a qualitative method with a literature study approach, analyzing literature related to program effectiveness, challenges, and success factors. The results show that programs that involve local cadres and are carried out sustainably can improve health literacy and healthy behavior of the community. Challenges such as low access to information and cultural resistance remain, but can be overcome with a community-based approach. In conclusion, preventive education programs through community service are effective if they involve active participation and are adapted to the local socio-cultural context.
