Abstract

This study aims to explore the geopolitical dynamics and non-traditional security issues in Southeast Asia, as well as their impact on regional and global stability. A qualitative approach was utilized, involving data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews with international relations experts, document analysis, and participant observation at relevant events. The findings indicate that the competition between the United States and China significantly influences the region's geopolitics, particularly regarding territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additionally, non-traditional security threats such as terrorism and drug trafficking require closer regional cooperation through ASEAN. While ASEAN has successfully facilitated dialogue and cooperation, there is still a need for institutional reform and capacity building. The study also highlights the impact of globalization and information technology on geopolitical dynamics. A comprehensive understanding of these issues has important implications for international trade and security, supporting the argument that effective multilateral cooperation can serve as a model for global stability and security
