Abstract

This study aims to investigate non-traditional security issues in Southeast Asia, focusing on threats such as terrorism, drug trafficking, and climate change, and their impact on regional stability. A qualitative approach was adopted, involving data collection techniques such as in- depth interviews with government officials and NGO representatives, document analysis, and participant observation at relevant seminars and conferences. The findings reveal that terrorism and drug trafficking are significant threats requiring enhanced regional cooperation through ASEAN. Climate change exacerbates these security challenges, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive and collaborative approach. While ASEAN has facilitated dialogue and cooperation, the study highlights the necessity for institutional reforms and capacity building. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexities of non-traditional security issues and underscore the importance of effective multilateral cooperation for global stability and security
