THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FATHER INVOLVEMENT INCHILD-REARING AND THE INCIDENCE OF STUNTING AMONG CHILDREN AGED 0–59 MONTHS IN THE POLOKARTO COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WORKING AREA

Stunting is a growth disorder resulting from long-term malnutrition that can impact the growth and development of children under five. Paternal involvement in child-rearing is a family factor that plays a role in meeting nutritional and health needs, as well as monitoring a child's growth and development. Polokarto District is one area within Sukoharjo Regency with a high number of stunted infants. This study aimed to determine the relationship between paternal involvement in child-rearing and the incidence of stunting among children aged 0–59 months in the Polokarto Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area. An observational analytic quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study sample consisted of 99 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Paternal involvement was measured using a 22-item questionnaire with a 1–4 Likert scale, while stunting status was determined based on height-for-age (TB/U) measurements and z-scores. Data analysis utilized the Pearson correlation test after assumptions of normality and linearity were met. The results showed a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.376. There is a relationship between paternal involvement in child-rearing and the incidence of stunting in children under five. Specifically, a significant relationship exists between paternal involvement in child-rearing and the incidence of stunting among children aged 0–59 months in the Polokarto Community Health Center working area.
