Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) among pregnant women remains one of the nutritional and public health problems in Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the risk factors of compliance knowledge, support provided by health workers, and family involvement in the occurrence of CED among pregnant women who received care at the Rappang Public Health Center in 2026. This study employed a case-control design involving 80 respondents, consisting of 40 cases and 40 controls. The case group was determined using total sampling, while the control group was selected using simple random sampling with a 1:1 ratio and age matching. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurements, and the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook.and the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook. The data were then analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Odds Ratio (OR). The results showed that compliance knowledge was a risk factor for CED (OR=4.200; 95% CI: 1.350–13.065; p=0.010), as was family support (OR=4.846; 95% CI: 1.882–12.482; p=0.001). Meanwhile, the role of health workers did not show statistical significance (OR=2.029; 95% CI: 0.833–4.945; p=0.117). The occurrence of CED among pregnant women was associated with the level of compliance knowledge and family support. Therefore, optimizing health education and family support during pregnancy is necessary.
